Product Description

Magnetostrictive displacement sensor is a sensor that detects displacement based on magnetostrictive and inverse magnetostrictive effects. The magnetostrictive displacement sensor mainly consists of a waveguide wire, a measuring rod, an electronic compartment and a non-contact magnetic ring (with a permanent magnet inside) set on the measuring rod. When the sensor is in operation, the electronic circuit in the electronic compartment generates a starting pulse that travels at a constant speed along the magnetostrictive wire (waveguide wire) and generates a rotating magnetic field that follows the pulse along the waveguide wire. When this magnetic field meets the permanent magnetic field in the positioning device, a magnetostrictive effect is generated, which causes the waveguide wire to twist. This twist is sensed by the signal processing mechanism installed in the electronic compartment and converted into a corresponding termination pulse. By calculating the time difference between the start pulse and the corresponding end pulse, the displacement can be measured precisely. The magnetostrictive displacement sensor reads out the position of the active magnet and converts it into a 24- or 25- or 26-bit serial data in Gray code or binary by internal circuitry, which can be transmitted directly to the PLC.
